College

Posted in Photografies, The story with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on 20/07/2014 by Truth Conquers

In one week I got the answer from the University in Oslo (my dream university) and the college in Israel (my plan B, in case I didn’t get accepted in Oslo). And the answer were that I didn’t get accepted in Oslo, but in Israel. For the next weeks I spent the time thinking about pro’s and con’s, to stay or to leave. But in the end I took the chance to move to another country. After all, I did have family there and knew the culture . I got accepted at a college in Israel, studying Interior architecture.
My first project was in Photography. Both for the teacher to see our abilities in photography and for the students to get to know each other we were asked to photograph one photo that described us in a traditional way, and one in a personal way.
Here is my photos: traditionalpersonal What do you think?

After the storm.
If you let yourself  go deep.
To feel.
To seek.
You will find something special.
Something that will even shock you.
You will learn new things.
See the world a bit different maybe.
What you will find was not there before the storm,
or maybe it was.
But the storm needed to appear for you to see it.
See that something special.

checkmate

The summer of 2012 has started. My friends and I have ended 13 years of school, and everyone is disappearing in another direction. One in the marine. One in Paris. One studying to be a lawyer.
But I. I was nowhere. Since I was sick two years ago, I had to drop out of two subjects. By doing that, I could manage to complete second and third (last) year at high school. But as the third year ended, I knew I still had to take an additional year, to complete.
It felt like i was standing alone, all my friends disappearing living their lives, and the big queen is staring at me yelling: “So, what will you do?!  Will you start the life of a student, living the life you have dreamed of and be at the same level as all your friends? Or will you complete your education, so you wont be a dummy the rest of your life?! Come on! Choose! Now!”
The queen pushing me in to a corner, leaves me with no way out, no excuse, yelling: “CHECKMATE!”

“Take a look at yourself in the mirror, who do you see looking back? Is it the person you wanna be? Or is there someone else you were meant to be? The person you should have been, but fell short of. Is someone telling you you can’t, or you wont? Because you can. Believe that love is out there. Believe that dreams come true every day, because they do. Sometimes happiness doesn’t come from money, or fame, or power. Sometimes happiness comes from good friends and family, and from the quiet nobility of leading a good life. Believe that dreams come true everyday, because they do. Believe that dreams come true everyday, because they do. So take a look in that mirror and remind yourself to be happy, because you deserve to be. Believe that. And believe that dreams come true everyday, because they do.” – OTH

Make a wish, and believe it can come true

Posted in Photografies with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on 27/01/2013 by Truth Conquers

macro“It’s the oldest story in the world. One day you’re 17 and planning for someday. And then quietly and without you ever really noticing, someday is today. And then someday is yesterday. And this is your life.

We spend so much time wanting, pursuing, wishing. But ambition is good. Chasing things with integrity is good. Dreaming…

If you had a friend you knew you’d never see again, what would you say? If you could do one last thing for someone you love, what would it be? Say it, do it, don’t wait. Nothing lasts forever.

Make a wish and place it in your heart. Anything you want. Everything you want.

Do you have it? Good. Now believe it can come true.

You never know where the next miracle’s gonna come from. The next memory. The next smile. The next wish come true.

But if you believe that it’s right around the corner, and you open your heart and mind to the possibility of it. To the certainty of it.

You might just get the thing you’re wishing for.

The world is full of magic. You just have to believe in it.

So make your wish… Do you have it? Good. Now believe in it. With all your heart.” – OTH

“Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.
For nothing now can ever come to any good.”

Design & Architecture: Design a module of a bench. Deliver the project in a folder that contains an inspiration map, four different concepts of a module that can make 3 different combinations, a drawing of the module in a fitting environment and  a drawing of the module from every side with every measure. The module has to be placed outside in a park, therefore the chosen materials has to handle rough weather. The age group for the product is children.

Costume, Phantom of the opera

Posted in Photografies with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on 04/11/2012 by Truth Conquers

The next project in Scenography & Costume was to design a costume to the chosen play.

I chose to design a dress for the lead character, Christine Dae.

The fabric I used was chiffon, and i formed the dress by sewing it to chicken wire. The skirt is orange and the dress is red. I chose these colors to give the effect of energetic, bald, passionate, fire, and will therefore fit perfect to be worn in the scene where they perform the Phantoms own opera. The fabric I used is so elegant, soft, careful, so I decided to make some flowers of paper that I painted orange to get a contrast between the soft and the harsh.

I designed the dress and sew the dress all by my self 🙂 What do you think?

“Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise” – Les Misérables

Posted in Drawings, Photografies with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on 14/10/2012 by Truth Conquers

We got a new project in Design & Architecture:  Design a lamp and make a model of the final product. The main material you can use is paper. You deliver the project in a folder that has to contain an inspiration map, 20 sketches, a drawing of the lamp in a fitting environment and  a drawing of the lamp from every side with every measure.

The material I used was greaseproof paper. I used a racket and took away the strings and the handle so I only got the oval shape and  attached the paper to it. I cut out the letters of the greaseproof paper that made the quote: Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise. I also took a yellow paper  and rolled it to a circle and placed it inside the lamp. By that, the light will be yellow and will shine through the letters and give a relaxing and comfortable light.

What do you think?

Storyboard

Posted in Drawings, Photografies with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on 09/09/2012 by Truth Conquers

Scenography & costume: Chose a known play, and make a modern twist to it.  The stage is a circle formed stage, that can turn to the left or right and the scene room will change. We could only make three scene rooms.

I chose “The phantom of the opera”.  The scene rooms that I chose to use is (from the top) the entry hall (where the masquerade scene is), the opera stage and the phantoms “cave”.

I got inspired from the opera in Sydney, and designed the fence on the balcony, that is on the top of the stairs, like the opera. the fence is made of glass, as well as the stairs. The stairs are held up by wires .

To “divide” the stage, i chose to use transparent fabric in different width  in yellow and in black.

Information desk 2

Posted in Photografies with tags , , , , , on 03/09/2012 by Truth Conquers

After we designed the information desk we made a prototype. By that we learned all the lines we have to draw on the drawing to understand how to build it. A very nice experience 🙂

Information desk

Posted in Drawings, Photografies with tags , , , , , , , , , , on 26/08/2012 by Truth Conquers

Our first autumn exam in Design & Architecture was to design an information desk for the Norwegian Tourist Association. Therefore we had to use typical norwegian materials, but at the same time give the desk a modern look. We had to draw the information-desk in a two point perspective and a drawing from every side with every measure. The criteria were creativity, functionality, proportions, perspective and technical design.  We got 5 hours.

I decided to use wooden planks in the front inspired from the norwegian fence called “Skigard”.
I used the typical norwegian stone called slate as a tabletop where the worker can stand and help people, and blue plexieglas  with a glass-fence where they can sit and work in private.

The 60’s and the 70’s

Posted in Drawings, Photografies with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on 24/06/2012 by Truth Conquers

Our second project in Scenography  & Costume: make an informative  “poster” of the 60’s and the 70’s. with one glance at the “poster” you have to know immediately the interior, use of materials, and clothing.

We were supposed to work in pairs for this project. My partner ad I decided that since she’s in to fashion her job was to find out the typical features in the 60’s and 70’s clothing, and draw them. And since I am interested in interior I found pictures of furnitures, typical materials and use of color from the eras and arranged in to two rooms.

The 60’s: The room on the top and the woman to the right

The 70’s: The bottom room and the woman to the left

“You pull me out of the dark and now it’s light” – Slow club

Posted in Photografies, The story with tags , , , , , , on 17/06/2012 by Truth Conquers

My first project in Scenography & costume: Make a mask inspired from an insect. The criteria: The ability to develop your own work from the given assignment, documentation of the process, content/ expression, creativity and technical use.

Before we each handed in our mask, we painted our faces in a color that would fit the mask and put on a costume that will give an overall expression.

Spending more and more time with the school musical just gave me so much joy and strength. And suddenly one day i realized the musical group was my anchor point. And slowly the joy and the unity in the musical group dragged me out of the dark.

Reflective headset

Posted in Photografies with tags , , , , , , , , on 03/06/2012 by Truth Conquers

We had a project in Design & Architecture where we had to design a reflective product for children/youth. The criteria were the idea, design-process, a justification of materials in the final product, right dimensions related to the target group and how the products is user-friendly.
Since the usual color for a reflex is  yellow, I decided that the rest of the headset would be purple, so they would be in complementary colors.

Oslo 22. of July

Posted in Drawings, Photografies, The story with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on 20/05/2012 by Truth Conquers

Our first project in Visual arts was to make a collage of a worldwide news by using three different techniques. I chose the 22.07 terror attack that happened in Oslo summer of 2011. I wanted to make it like a memorial work. In the picture there is 77 roses, a rose for each person that got killed. And I chose to draw and paint hands that shows different cultures managing to live together. The techniques I used was acrylic painting, pencil and paper collage.

I didn’t manage to scan the whole picture, therefore the top is cropped 😛

I can admit that I was nervous. For the first time after I got out of the wheel chair, I left for another country.  But I was prepared. I planed the days so I wouldn’t get exhausted, I left the room when it was too much noise, I slept or rested in the middle of the day and most important of all; I focused on doing things that make me happy. For example, when my family decided one day to go to the beach, I took with me my camera and photographed every thing that fascinated me. Here are some of the shots :

If you try to see the beauty and the positivity in every thing, you’ll get closer to happiness

Invasion of unfamiliar feelings

“Sometimes pain becomes such huge part of your life that you expect it to always be there because you can’t remember a time in your life when it wasn’t. But then one day you feel something else. Something that feels wrong, only because it’s so unfamiliar. And in that moment you realize you’re happy. ” OTH

One step at the time

Want to know a secret? I am a determent person. When I have a goal, I work as much as I can to reach it.

So when my goal was to be out of the wheelchair in May, I started to walk a bit every day and I dropped the wheelchair at school.

It’s May now, and I celebrated my 18th birthday without the wheelchair, and even danced!

Reaching for a goal

Photography & Print: Take a picture of whatever you want as long as you follow the criteria; composition, sharpness, use of color, lines or circles that gets repeated( create a good composition).

I was now at school everyday. I refused to bring the wheelchair to school and started to walk in the halls. Not in a normal tempo but slowly. When I have a goal, I work for it. And my goal was to dance and walk the day i turned  18. That’s 4 weeks from now.

Project in Photography & Print: Make a seria of 5 photos. Every picture need to have something to do with each other, but can’t be identical.
Criteria: creativity, composition (in each and every picture), composition (all the picture together, technical skill, presentation.

Two weeks before we had this project my mom said to me that she is taking me to the mountain, so I can get some air. Because I’m spending too much inside sleeping. …
So we went for a hike in the mountains, with the chair. One thing that I have learned is that when your life is quite rough, you should do things that you like and make you happy. I really enjoy to photograph, so I took with me the camera to the mountain.
When I got the message two weeks later that we’re going to have a project with photography, I already had my pictures ready:)
I chose to have these pictures in this special order because then the colors is evenly distributed, there is balance in the picture and there is a line you can follow from one picture to another.

In second year of Art School we had a new subject: Photography & Print. Our first task was to take a portrait of one person in the class, and manage to let the personality show. I paired up with Trond. He’s smart but sometimes a bit crazy.

I was now stuck in the wheelchair for a month, and it felt like the hope of getting healthier were taking away from me slowly.

In Design & Architecture the new project was to make a business card. It had to contain your initials, something that people associate with you, your whole name, phone number and mail. The picture I used for the business card is a picture i took in a hurry before school, and it turned out like this without any changes in photoshop! I got help from my best friend from the Netherlands with this card, and in the end it turned out quite good. The look of the business card was my inspiration for the layout on the homepage.

A song I listened to a lot at this time, and still do is “Canon in D” by Johann Pachelbel. By now, I have learned to play this song on piano. To listen to this song inspires me a lot:)
